Saudi Arabia dominates Camel Racing
His Highness Prince Fahad bin Jalawi, Chairman of the Supreme Organising Committee of the Islamic Solidarity Games (Riyadh 2025), awarded gold medals to Saudi Arabia’s Camel Racing stars on Thursday, following wins in the 2km and 8km races held at Al Janadriyah – Camel Racing Arena.
Ahmed Aljohni (KSA) claimed gold in the men’s 2km race, followed by Rashid Alkaabi (UAE) with silver and Matar Almheiri (UAE) with bronze. In the women’s 2km, Kholoud Alshammari (KSA) took gold, ahead of Fatima Alameri (UAE) with silver and Rawan Salah (JOR) with bronze.
In the 8km event, Suleiman Aljohni (KSA) stormed to gold in the men’s race, with silver going to Ahmed Aljohni (KSA) and bronze to Matar Almheiri (UAE). In the women’s category, Kholoud Alshammari (KSA) won her second gold of the Games, ahead of Hadeel Alsharif (KSA) with silver and Fatma Alameri (UAE) with bronze.
Türkiye and Bahrain shine in Athletics finale
Türkiye and Bahrain emerged as the most successful nations in Thursday’s final day of Athletics, each winning two gold medals.
In the Para 100m T53/54, Jamaan Alzahrani (KSA) clinched gold, with Mohamed Nidhal Khlifi (TUN) taking silver and Abdulrahman Alqurashi (KSA) earning bronze.
Ali Amirian (IRI) topped the men’s 800m final, followed by Abderrahman El Assal (MAR) and Abubaker Abdalla (QAT).
Yaqoub Alyouha (KUW) claimed the 110m hurdles gold, with Saguirou Badamassi (NIG) second and Mikdat Sevler (TUR) third.
Omer Sahin (TUR) won gold in the men’s discus throw, with Eissa Zankawi (KUW) and Mustafa Alsaamah (IRQ) rounding out the podium.
In the 5000m, Mohamed Ismail (DJI) struck gold ahead of Birhanu Balew (BRN) and Samuel Simba (UGA).
Anvar Anvarov (UZB) soared to gold in the men’s long jump, while Amath Faye (SEN) won silver and Emanuel Archibald (GUY) bronze.
Nigeria claimed the 4x400m mixed relay gold, with Bahrain taking silver and Türkiye bronze.
In women's events, Fatemeh Mohitizadeh (IRI) secured the gold medal, while Ugiloy Norboeva (UZB) clinched the silver, and Irina Konichsheva (KAZ) rounded off the podium with bronze.
Emel Dereli (TUR) won shot put gold, with Oyesade Olatoye (NGA) taking silver and Noora Jasim (BRN) bronze.
Nelly Korir (BRN) dominated the 1500m, followed by Soukaina Hajji (MAR) and Bahiya Elarfaoui (MAR).
Edidiong Odiong (BRN) and Salwa Naser (BRN) claimed a 1-2 finish in the 200m, while Kolle Tonjock (CAM) took bronze.
Saudi sweep in Jiu-Jitsu
Saudi brothers Omar and Abdullah Nada led a golden day for Team KSA in Jiu-Jitsu at Prince Faisal bin Fahad Sports City.
Abdullah Nada (KSA) won gold in the -85kg category, with Saeed Alkubaisi (UAE) taking silver, and Ali Akbarpour (IRI) and Abdurahman Murtazaliev (KGZ) sharing bronze.
Omar Nada (KSA) won gold in the -94kg, while Ramazan Kussainov (KAZ) took silver, and Ruslan Sagdeev (KGZ) and Abdullah Alkubaisi (UAE) earned bronze.
Kazakhstan’s Aldiyar Serik secured the -69kg gold, followed by Mohammed Huraymil (KSA) with silver, and Argen Abdymanapov (KGZ) and Sultan Hassan (UAE) with bronze.
In the women’s finals, Shamsa Alameri (UAE) won gold in -57kg, ahead of Lina Eraikat (PLE) and Lama Almadani (KSA).
In the -70kg, Marian Zhuravleva (KAZ) triumphed, with Dania Obaid (PLE) second and Hasti Hamoodi (IRI) third.
Kyrgyzstan dominate Wrestling Gold
Kyrgyzstan captured multiple wrestling titles on Thursday.
Abdumalik Karachov (KGZ) won gold in Men’s Freestyle -57kg, ahead of Islam Bazarganov (AZE), with Gulomjon Abdullaev (UZB) and Ali Momeni (IRI) sharing bronze.
Rahman Amouzad (IRI) won gold in the -65kg final, with Abdulmazhid Kudiev (TJK) taking silver, and Umidjon Jalolov (UZB) and Bilol Uulu (KGZ) bronze.
In women’s -62kg, Esther Kolawale (NGA) secured gold, with Ruzana Mammadova (AZE) second and Nigina Sabirova (UZB) and Selvi Ilyasoglu (TUR) third.
Meerim Zhumanazharova (KGZ) won -68kg gold, followed by Svetlana Oknazarova (UZB), and Nigar Mirzazada (AZE) and Irina Kazyulina (KAZ) as joint bronze medallists.
In -76kg, Aiperi Kyzy (KGZ) triumphed, with Damola Ojo (NGA) silver and Samar Hamza (EGY) and Elmira Syzdykova (KAZ) bronze.
Handball Bronze for Qatar and IR Iran
Qatar earned bronze in the men’s handball competition, edging out the UAE 16–15 in the third-place match at Prince Faisal bin Fahad Sports Complex.
In the women’s category, IR Iran claimed bronze after defeating Uzbekistan 29–25.
The gold medal matches will be held on Friday, with Saudi Arabia facing Bahrain in the men’s final, and Türkiye taking on Kazakhstan in the women’s showdown.
Games to conclude on Friday with Closing Ceremony
The 6th Islamic Solidarity Games (Riyadh 2025) will officially conclude on Friday after more than 17 days of action featuring 3,000 athletes from 57 nations across 23 sports in five venues.
The Closing Ceremony will be held at Princess Nourah University, which also hosted the Athletes’ Village. The ceremony will feature a cultural programme and the symbolic handover of the ISG flag to Malaysia, host of the 2029 edition.
