Saudi Arabia and Bahrain Reach Riyadh 2025 Handball Final
Saudi Arabia and Bahrain booked their place in the final of the Men’s Handball competition at the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games – Riyadh 2025, after victories over Qatar and UAE in today’s semifinals held at Prince Faisal bin Fahad Olympic Complex. Saudi Arabia defeated UAE 29–15, while Bahrain narrowly overcame Qatar 31–30.
In the women’s handball competition, Türkiye and Kazakhstan advanced to the final, with Türkiye defeating Uzbekistan 39–22 and Kazakhstan beating IR Iran 29–26. The men’s and women’s bronze medal matches will take place tomorrow, Thursday, with the gold medal finals on Friday.
Saudi Arabia Wins Men’s 4x100m Relay Gold
The Saudi men’s 4x100m relay team claimed gold with a time of 39.19 seconds, edging out Oman who took silver (39.21), and Nigeria in third with 39.51. Paralympic athlete Ali Alnakhli added another gold for Saudi Arabia in the Men’s 100m T37, finishing ahead of Algeria’s Sofiane Hamdi (silver) and Egypt’s Mostafa Mohamed (bronze).
In the Men’s 200m, Cameroon’s Eseme Alobwede took gold, Saudi Arabia’s Abdulaziz Atafi won silver, and Cameroon’s Itoungue Claude earned bronze. Morocco’s Anass Essayi triumphed in the 1500m, ahead of Türkiye’s Mehmet Celik and Algeria’s Chott Anis. The 400m gold went to Morocco’s Rachid M’hamdi, followed by UAE’s Emmanuel Bamidele (silver) and Nigeria’s Gafari Badmus (bronze).
Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem secured the Men’s Javelin gold, ahead of teammate Muhammad Yasir (silver) and Nigeria’s Samuel Kure (bronze). Nigeria’s women’s 4x100m relay team claimed gold, with Bahrain winning silver and The Gambia bronze.
Türkiye’s Demet Parlak won Women’s Pole Vault gold, followed by Buse Arikazan (silver) and IR Iran’s Mahsa Mirzatabibi (bronze). Bahrain’s Salwa Naser won the Women’s 400m title, beating Nigeria’s Patience George (silver) and Uganda’s Leni Shida (bronze). In the Women’s 800m, Bahrain’s Nelly Korir secured gold, Uganda’s Halima Nakaayi took silver, and Morocco’s Soukaina Hajji won bronze.
Egypt’s Esraa Owis claimed gold in the Women’s Long Jump, Burkina Faso’s Nemata Nikiema took silver, and Togo’s Fayza Abdoukerim bronze. Türkiye’s Cansu Sayin won the Women’s 100m Hurdles ahead of Uzbekistan’s Lidiya Podsepkina and Togo’s Naomi Akakpo.
Five Nations Share Wrestling Golds
Wrestlers from IR Iran, Uzbekistan, Nigeria, Azerbaijan, and Egypt shared top honours in the Wrestling events at Boulevard Riyadh City. IR Iran’s Fardin Hedayati won gold in the Men’s Greco-Roman 130kg, Egypt’s Abdellatif Mohamed took silver, and Türkiye’s Fatih Bozkurt won bronze. IR Iran’s Mohammadhadi Saravi claimed the 97kg gold, with Azerbaijan’s Murad Ahmadiyev taking silver, and bronze going to Türkiye’s Beytullah Kayisdag and Algeria’s Rouabah Fadi.
Uzbekistan’s Aktenge Keunimjaeva won gold in the Women’s Freestyle 50kg, Nigeria’s Miesinnei Genes took silver, and Azerbaijan’s Elnura Mammadova won bronze. Nigeria’s Christianah Ogunsanya took gold in the Women’s 53kg Freestyle, with Uzbekistan’s Shokhida Ahmedova taking silver, and Kyrgyzstan’s Aruuke Kyzy and Kazakhstan’s Zeinep Bayanova claiming bronze. In the Women’s 57kg Freestyle, Azerbaijan’s Zhala Aliyeva won gold, Türkiye’s Elvira Suleyman took silver, and Algeria’s Tekouk Djamila secured bronze.
Egypt and Azerbaijan Win Basketball Gold
Egypt claimed gold in the Men’s 3x3 Basketball after a 21–14 win over IR Iran, with Qatar earning bronze following a 17–15 win over Bahrain. In the Women’s 3x3, Azerbaijan defeated Türkiye 21–13 to take gold. Egypt beat IR Iran 21–16 for bronze.
Fencing Gold for Tunisia’s Men and Türkiye’s Women
Tunisian and Turkish athletes won gold in Fencing events at Boulevard Riyadh City. Tunisia’s Fares Ferjani took gold in the Men’s Sabre, with Türkiye’s Furkan Yaman taking silver. The bronze medals went to Tunisia’s Ahmed Ferjani and Uzbekistan’s Zukhriddin Kodirov. In the Women’s Foil, Türkiye’s Alara Atmaca won gold, Kazakhstan’s Sofiya Aktayeva took silver, and Oman’s Israa Siyabi and Tunisia’s Yasmine Soussi shared bronze.
