Maximum Efficiency, Minimum Effort: The Essence of Judo

Judo is a dynamic and disciplined martial art focused on using an opponent's force against them, emphasizing throws, holds, and pins to subdue without striking. Originating in Japan, it was founded by Jigoro Kano in 1882, combining physical prowess with mental discipline, promoting mutual respect and personal development. Celebrated for its philosophical underpinning of "maximum efficiency, minimum effort," judo teaches life skills alongside physical defense, fostering a worldwide community passionate about both competition and character building.

Rules

In judo, the rules revolve around safely executing throws, pins, and submission techniques to gain points and win matches. Competitors, dressed in judogi (judo uniforms), aim to throw their opponents onto their backs decisively, earning an "ippon," which immediately ends the match in victory. If an ippon isn't achieved, lesser scores like "waza-ari" accumulate, potentially leading to victory after time runs out. Matches are held on padded mats to ensure safety, and grips, holds, and ground techniques are regulated to maintain fairness and prevent injury.
